Where is the LAP ASP program located? |

The ASP is housed in a classroom at the Beekman Center, through the generocity of the Lansing Public School district. The school is located on Wabash in Lansing. |

What are times? |
A. |
During the school year, September to early / mid June, students are released from class between 2:45 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and enter the LAP program. During the summer school program, students are released from class between 12:45 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. and enter the ASP. All students must be picked up before 6:00 p.m. |

What if I am late picking my child up? |

There is a $1.00 per minute late fee starting at 6:01 p.m. |

What if my student does not attend the Beekman Center? |
A. |
No problem! You will just have to arrange transportation to the school. Check with Dean transportation. |

What does it cost? |
A. |
Full time student fee is $110.00 per week. Part time student fee is $30.00 per day. A $30.00 snack and supply fee is invoiced 2 times in the regular school year and 1 time for the summer session. Summer school is available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for $90.00 or a single day for $35.00. |

What do I need to do to enroll my child? |

You must complete an enrollment application, which consists of detailed information to enable the ASP director to create a "Care Plan" for your child. This care plan will house important information about your child to help the care providers with any questions they may have about your child. A $30.00 snack and supply fee must accompany the application. |

My child requires specialized care, how will LAP know how to take care of him / her? |

All LAP care providers are trained to care for persons with special needs. They are all trained in CPR and First Aid. The care providers must take a training course and pass all testing with a score of 85% or better. |

What if I cannot afford the fees? Is there any financial aid? |
A. |
LAP ASP does accept Department of Human Services (DHS / FIA) assistance. You will need to contact the department in your county for their regulations. LAP can also use Community of Mental Health (CMH) assistance. You can contact your case manager or call 517.346.8318 to request an intake evaluation for services needed. |

What will my child be doing while attending the ASP? |

Daily activities including arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor physical activities, snack, music, stories and more! |

Can I just drop my child off anytime? |

No. LAP ASP is not set up as a drop-in center. Students must be preregistered and registered. |

How many students are enrolled in the ASP? |

LAP ASP is licensed for up to 16 students. |

My child requires a lot of care, will there be enough staff to attend to him / her properly? |

At the ASP a 3:1, care provider to student ratio is kept. The director is on site to help out if needed. The license states a 4:1 ratio must be kept. |

Is there a supervisor on staff all the time? What are their qualificaitons? |

Yes, the ASP has a director on staff and is on-site during student hours. The director qualifiies with the State of Michigan regulations for Child Day Care Centers. |

Does the ASP have any type of special licensing? |

Yes, the LAP ASP is licensed with the State of Michigan as a Child Day Care Center. The center is inspected annually. |
Q. |
What happens if there is a snow day and the Beekman Center is closed? |
A. |
If the Beekman Center is closed due to inclement weather or building problems, the ASP will also be closed. Students are not charged for this day. The Beekman Center is part of the Lansing school district and follows the district for weather related closings. |

What happens if there is a pre-scheduled school closing? |
A. |
If the Beekman Center is closed, then the ASP will also be closed. There will be no fees charged for these days. If there is a pre-scheduled school closing, LAP will offer the use of their "Respite House" (RH). The RH is located in a neighborhood near the school and is owned and operated by LAP. The RH can house up to 6 students during the day. The ASP students will have first choice to sign up for this opportunity. Students are registered on a first-come, first-serve basis. The RH is open from 7:30 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m. The fee for these days is $60.00. |

What happens if my child is absent for any reason? |

Every student registers for 1 of the available 16 slots. Student fees are based on the slot reservation. A student will still be charged for days they are absent unless a request in writing is turned into the director 2 week prior to the absence. |

My child will need medication given during the time he / she is attending the ASP. |
A. |
No problem. LAP care providers will follow their training procedures and administer as required per prescription. |
Q. |
I have another child who is in regular education classes, can they attend? |
A. |
Yes, this is a possibility if a space is open. The first family member enrolled must be enrolled in special education classes. Each student is looked at on an individual basis. Children in special education classes are given priority. |
